Drew Saelens is the Director of External Relations at the Patient Access Network Foundation (PAN). Prior to joining PAN he was a Senior Health Policy Manager at Applied Policy. Saelens joined Applied Policy in 2011 and served as the lead policy and reimbursement analyst for several clients. In this role, Saelens worked with clients to develop and execute policy and reimbursement tactics to complement their business strategies. Saelens also provided client-specific analysis of health care industry policies, rules, and regulations, with a focus on CMS.
Prior to joining Applied Policy, Saelens served as a policy analyst and patient advocate with Mens Health Network. In this role, he met with congressional staff to advocate for the organizations legislative priorities and community health awareness events. Saelens also gained broad experience through serving in a variety of roles, from business development to operations management, while working for Catalyst Rx (now part of Catamaran), a rapidly growing pharmaceutical benefit manager. Saelens continued his health care operations experience as he worked with Virginia Hospital Center as it rebranded and marketed itself into a nationally recognized health care provider.
Saelens holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The University of Richmond. He continued his education by earning a dual Masters Degrees while working fulltime. Saelens holds a Master of Business Administration and Master of Government from The John Hopkins University.
