John Marangio became a Registered Nurse in 2006 in New York City and has focused his career in the field of HIV/AIDS and Infectious Diseases. John worked in acute care and long term care settings and has cared for thousands of patients over the last 19 years.
John relocated to South Florida in 2001 where he worked as a medical disease state care coordinator helping to manage over 100 high acuity AIDS patients. Between 2003 and 2007, John was part of an international team of medical and nursing educators in Ukraine and Russia. During this time he assisted in the training of a multidisciplinary team of health care providers and was instrumental in helping his international colleagues learn how to provide care and prescribe medications for patients living HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis.
During his entire nursing career, John has been an active member and local leader in the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care. For the past 15 years John has led a group of nursing professionals in the South Florida area and has spearheaded an annual conference for nurses and other licensed health care professionals caring for patients living with HIV/AIDS.
For 9 years, John managed and worked evenings as a clinician at a Sexually Transmitted Disease clinic for gay and bisexual men in South Florida. During these years, John helped educate, examine, diagnosis, treat, and cure, thousands of patients with syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, HIV, and hepatitis.
John has been, and continues to be, an active member in local political bodies assisting in the development and allocation of funds and resources for patients living with HIV/AIDS. John also provides educational seminars at case management agencies, federally qualified health centers, chemical dependency programs, schools, clinical settings, community organizations, and religious centers.
Currently John is a Nurse Adherence Specialist with a specialty pharmacy and oversees the care of the patients receiving medications and treatment for HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C. John is part of a team of pharmacists and nurses that provide personal one-on-one education and counseling for patients with chronic diseases.
