The ADAP Advocacy Association (aaa+) is pleased to share with you information about upcoming events, both sponsored by aaa+ and other leading national AIDS organizations.

Heinz-Welvista Solution:
Improving access to care for people living with HIV/AIDS during the ADAP Crisis

Welvista

In response to the growing ADAP crisis, please participate in an online training to learn more about the Heinz-Welvista solution and how it can help patients currently on ADAP waiting lists. The ADAP Advocacy Association (aaa+), in coordination with the Community Access National Network (CANN) and the National Network of ADA Centers (DBTACs) is extending this invitation to all ADAP Stakeholders to gain a fuller perspective from the Heinz Family Philanthropies and Welvista Pharmacy about how their solution can address the many issues confronting people living with HIV disease on wait lists. The virtual training application is scheduled from 2:00 – 3:30 pm (EST) on Monday, December 6, 2010.

Registration FREE.

 

This virtual training application will cover a wide range of topics including intersections between ADAPs, Welvista Pharmacy and other available resources to move patients off wait lists. Particularly, the virtual training application will offer:

Current prescription programs application/standards offered by Welvista;

Eligibility criteria;

Other available resources being made available; and

Practical applications to connect stakeholders to the aforementioned programs and resources.

The training will also be archived so that interested parties not able to attend in-person can access the virtual training application at a later time and view it in real time as if they were there participating. Additionally, all sessions will be real-time captioned, thereby creating a textual log of the virtual training application. All virtual training applications will be fully-accessible for people with disabilities.

The ADAP Advocacy Association will host a wine tasting benefit in Washington, DC, on Wednesday, October 6th, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The benefit is being held at 909 at Capitol Yards, located at 909 New Jersey Avenue, SE. Invited guests include Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and Rep. Donna Christensen (D-V.I.). Tax-deductible tickets are only $25 per person.

2010 Annual Conference - ADAP Crisis Summit

The ADAP Advocacy Association, in partnership with the Community Access National Network (CANN) and Housing Works, will convene its 2010 Annual Conference as an AIDS Drug Assistance Program Summit. This year’s conference theme is "ADAPs in Crisis: Moving Beyond Wait Lists & Improving Access to Care," which aims to assemble ADAP stakeholders from all of the various constituency groups – including patients, advocates, service providers, health care providers, pharmaceutical companies, allied health professionals, specialty pharmacies and others. It is being held on July 5th-7th in Washington, DC. Registration for the Summit is only $150.00 per attendee, and a limited number of scholarships will be awarded based on need. The Summit is being held at The Westin City Center, located at 1400 M Street, NW, Washington, DC 20005. Discounted room rates of $119.00 per room, per night, plus tax is being offered to Summit attendees. ADAP RESOURCE VIRTUAL TRAINING APPLICATION:
Linking AIDS Drug Assistance Programs to Pharmaceutical Prescription & Co-Payment Assistance Programs

In response to the growing ADAP waiting list crisis nationwide, please participate in a training on the state of the epidemic and what you can do to help. The ADAP Advocacy Association (aaa+), in coordination with the Community Access National Network (CANN), Flowers Heritage Foundation (FHF), National Alliance of State & Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD) and National Network of ADA Centers (DBTACs) – which all work to ensure access to care and treatment for every person with HIV in need – is extending this invitation to all ADAP Stakeholders in Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah and Wyoming to gain a fuller perspective from the pharmaceutical companies about how their prescription assistance and co-payment assistance programs can address the many issues confronting people living with HIV disease on wait lists. REGISTRATION IS FREE, BUT YOU MUST RESIDE OR WORK IN ONE OF THE STATES WITH AN ADAP WAITING LIST TO REGISTER. 2010 Black Cherry

The ADAP Advocacy Association has joined forces with the Cherry Fund to produce an evening of performances, fashion & art celebrating National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is a national HIV testing and treatment community mobilization initiative targeting the African American Community in the United States. The initiative has four specific points: Education, Testing, Involvement, and Treatment. Testing will be available and conducted by Us Helping Us.
